Lazio is preparing for their final 2020-21 Serie A fixture as they go on the road to take on U.S. Sassuolo Calcio. The match might not have much of an outcome on the standings, but it could provide sentimental value considering it might mark the end of an era.

Simone Inzaghi has spent the last five years as the Biancocelesti manager; however, this match against Sassuolo could be his last. The Italian tactician has spent the last few months in contract extension talks with Lazio, but both sides have failed to reach an agreement.

Furthermore, it seems as though Lazio already has eyes for a possible replacement in Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso, who shares a mutual interest in managing the team. He is awaiting Lazio’s decision over their managerial process.

Speaking to Sky Sport (via Lazio News), Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio touched on Gattuso having Lazio at the top of his list of clubs he would like to manage next season.

Fiorentina is pushing to sign Gattuso; he is their first choice. Every day, they call him to try and get the coach’s ‘yes’.

Rino, however, awaits Lazio. More than a few signals have arrived from President Claudio Lotito that he would like to see him managing the Biancocelesti next year.
