“Simone Has Had His Time in Rome” – Former Lazio Defender Believes the Club Should Move on from Inzaghi

Lazio will prepare for their final Serie A fixture of the 2020-21 season on the road against U.S. Sassuolo Calcio. The matchup at the Mapei Stadium – Città del Tricolore could mark the end of an era with the Biancocelesti

Next month, manager Simone Inzaghi will see his contract with Lazio expire, and after months of negotiations, both parties have yet to agree on an extension.

In an interview with TMW Radio (via Lazio News), former Lazio defender Roberto Cravero provided his thoughts regarding the future of Inzaghi. Perhaps supporters could view this as an unpopular opinion, but Cravero would like to see his ex-club thank the Italian tactician and move on to another manager.

Parting after a triumphant march, given that in these five years he has worked miracles, could be good for both the club and himself, to find new motives and reorganize their future.

For me, Simone has had his time in Rome, but not in a negative sense. He showed us that his teams know how to entertain; he made a masterpiece.

Rejuvenation? The question is linked to the coach: with Inzaghi, I think this trend will go on, with another maybe there could be the will to rejuvenate and make changes.

There’s no denying that under Inzaghi, Lazio has experienced its best run, winning trophies and returning to the UEFA Champions League after over a decade of missing out on the competition. However, for Cravero, he might feel that a new manager could take the Rome-based club to new heights.
