Lazio heads into their final matchday of the 2020-21 Serie A season and what could be the last fixture under manager Simone Inzaghi, considering the rumors surrounding the club’s potential interest in Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso.
Nonetheless, while speaking to the media at his press conference, Inzaghi didn’t talk much about his future. Instead, he decided to reflect on the season that was for the Biancocelesti. La Lazio Siamo Noi relayed the comments made by the Argentine tactician.
It was a grueling season, complicated for everyone; we practically did two seasons in one.
We close this season in a European spot for the fifth consecutive year. There is regret for not having hit the Champions League. But it was still an excellent season.
The victories I remember with the most pleasure? There are many; I remember the one against Roma or the one against Milan. If I have to say one, maybe the one with Borussia Dortmund, as it was our return to the Champions League after thirteen years. We had a great match. We knew Dortmund’s strengths; in fact, they reached the Quarter-Finals playing on par with Manchester City.
Inzaghi also touched on the players that will miss the fixture against U.S. Sassuolo Calcio.
Injuries? We will have some absences. There will be no Milinkovic-Savic; we also have problems with Immobile, who has a virus with some lines of fever. We will play our game honoring the championship as we have always done, as we have shown in the last few games.
