One could argue that Pepe Reina overachieved in his first full season with Lazio. Even though he is well past his prime days, Reina managed to win the starting goalkeeper role for Lazio this past season and did not look back.
Reina totaled for 29 appearances in Serie A play this season and wound up notching nine clean sheets.
On Instagram, Reina took a look back on his first season with Lazio. More so, he looked ahead to the upcoming new league campaign where fans may very well be allowed to return to stadiums across the league.
Another season is over and we need to rest well, hoping to see you all at the Stadio Olimpico in August, in a new challenge full of emotions and victories, to share them, this time, together.
It will be noteworthy to see whether Reina will remain as Lazio’s starting goalkeeper next season. The veteran Spanish goalkeeper still has plenty left in the tank to start for a team within Europe’s top five leagues. Still, Lazio may end up looking to sign another goalkeeper as it aims for a long-term solution at the position.
