Fiorentina have hired Lazio target Gennaro Gattuso as their new head coach.
As seen in an official announcement by the Viola earlier today, the 43-year-old Italian coach has reached a full agreement with the Florence-based club and will be signing a contract later today to take over as their new head coach.

This comes at a bad time for Lazio president Claudio Lotito. The Italian businessman had identified the former Napoli coach as his top choice to replace Simone Inzaghi, should the 45-year-old Italian leave the club as a result of tomorrow’s meeting.
Lotito will now have to find alternative options in the eventuality that Inzaghi fails to sign a contract renewal with the club.

Current alternatives include Bologna coach Sinisa Mihajlovic and Porto coach Sergio Conceicao, who has also been linked with a move to Napoli.
Fiorentina finished the Serie A season in 13th place, having picked up only 40 points from 38 matches.
