Lazio’s Goal Difference This Season Was Their Worst Ever in the Inzaghi Era

Lazio’s +6 goal difference this season is their worst ever under coach Simone Inzaghi.

The Biancocelesti scored 61 goals this campaign, with 20 of them coming from star striker Ciro Immobile. They also conceded 55 goals, leaving their final goal difference to work out at +6.

This is the lowest ever in the Inzaghi era, a worrying sign ahead of tomorrow’s meeting between the coach and president Claudio Lotito.

Last season, Lazio had a goal difference of +37 – The Biancocelesti scored 79 goals, with 36 coming from Immobile, and conceded 42 times, a much more solid defensive record.

In the 2018/19 season, the Biancocelesti finished in 8th, a disappointing position, but their goal difference of +10 was still superior to this campaign. That season they scored 56 and conceded 46.

The season prior, the Roman club had a strong goal difference of +40, the year they missed out on the Champions League due to a poor head-to-head with Inter. That season saw them score 89 times and concede 49 times.

Inzaghi’s first full season in charge of Lazio, the 2016/17 campaign, saw them finish with a goal difference of +23, having netted 74 times and conceded 51 times.
