Lazio Identify Ex-Napoli Coach Mazzarri as Replacement for Inter Linked Inzaghi

Lazio are thinking about hiring former Napoli and Inter coach Walter Mazzarri to replace Simone Inzaghi, should he leave for the Nerazzurri.

As reported by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio on Twitter earlier today, the Milanese club have agreed a mutual contract termination with coach Antonio Conte, and are now looking for a replacement for the Italian. Both Inzaghi and former Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri are the favourites for the job.

The Biancocelesti are therefore thinking of a possible replacement for the 45-year-old Italian coach, should he decide to sign onto Inter’s project.

The Roman club were previously interested in hiring former Napoli coach Gennaro Gattuso, but he decided to accept Fiorentina’s offer instead.

Lazio have now identified the 59-year-old Mazzarri as a potential replacement for Inzaghi. The Italian’s most recent job was in charge of Torino, from January 2018 to February 2020, where he averaged 1.55 points per game. He has previously managed Watford, Inter, Napoli and Sampdoria.
