Lazio Set Their Sights on Unneeded Arsenal Defender Mavropanos

Lazio have set their sights on Arsenal defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who impressed this season on loan with VfB Stuttgart.

As reported by German media outlet Kicker earlier today, the Biancocelesti are interested in the 23-year-old Greek defender, who shone for the Bundesliga outfit in his 21 appearances for the club this season whilst on loan.

The German club are keen to extend Mavropanos’ loan deal for another year, but Arsenal are considering a permanent sale instead, looking to generate some funds.

The Biancocelesti are looking to strengthen their defense this summer, with Wesley Hoedt and Mateo Musacchio both failing to hit the mark this campaign.

Arsenal signed Mavropanos from Greek side PAS Giannina in January 2018, but the player has never fully settled in North London, only making eight first-team appearances for the Gunners. He has spent time on loan with FC Nurnberg and now VfB Stuttgart, and is contracted to Arsenal until 2023.
