Ultras Lazio: “We Thank You for All These Years, We Couldn’t Contest Your Choice”

Lazio’s ultras in the Curva Nord commented on coach Simone Inzaghi’s departure from the club.

As reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the Biancocelesti ultras posted a relatively positive statement regarding the 45-year-old Italian coach’s decision to leave the club, with a move to Inter now expected.

Some fans feel betrayed by Inzaghi’s decision and behaviour this week, with graffiti appearing outside the club’s training ground insulting the Italian coach.

On Wednesday night he confirmed that he had reached a verbal agreement with president Claudio Lotito regarding a three-year deal, before changing his mind the next day and deciding to depart the club.

The Biancocelesti are now looking for a replacement for Inzaghi, with Bologna’s Sinisa Mihajlovic being contacted, although for now, it seems like the Serbian is not keen on accepting the offer. Other options are now being explored.

Below is Ultras Lazio’s full statement regarding Simone Inzaghi’s departure:

22 years with the Lazio eagle on your chest, first as a player, then as a coach. You have won a lot, you have suffered and rejoiced with us, you have always spoken as a fan and not just as a coach.

You have shown attachment to the shirt, to our history, to our cause. With pride and a spirit of belonging, but above all with respect.

For this we thank you, for all these years lived together and also for this we could never contest your choice.

With respect and esteem, good luck coach. There are no flags in football, except for the one the fan brings to the stadium every Sunday.
