Former Italian Defender Oddi Discusses Inzaghi’s Lazio Departure

Simone Inzaghi surprised many when he elected to not sign a contract extension deal with Lazio and instead end his run as the club’s manager. Inzaghi will reportedly become Inter Milan’s new manager as he is set on replacing Antonio Conte.

Former Italian defender Giancarlo Oddi admits that he was well surprised by Inzaghi’s decision to leave the club. Oddi spoke further about this matter during a talk with the Italian-based outlet Radiosei (via Cittaceleste).

Inzaghi’s decision surprised me. I would not have expected a lightning bolt like this. But here it happened in the worst way.

The fact is, I’m not picking on anyone. It is just strange that the coach had a change of opinion in such a short period of time. I may be a person of the past but it seems to me a particularly difficult thing to believe.

Clearly the successor will have to be someone up to the task that will be given to him. Many names have come up, but I believe there is not much preparation.

It won’t be easy to find a suitable replacement. In this moment, the responsibilities fall solely on Lotito and Tare.

Inzaghi leaves Lazio having won a trio of trophies with the side.
