Simone Inzaghi ended his Lazio run last week when he elected not to sign a new contract extension deal with the club.
Inzaghi worked closely with many of the players on the team over the past years, including midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. The Serbian midfielder had arguably the best years of his career under Inzaghi, which included notable improvements as a playmaking talent.
As plenty of other Lazio players have already done so, Milinkovic-Savic took to Instagram to send a final goodbye to the now-former Biancocelesti manager.
Five years of battles fought together. I put all my energy into it, you finished all your voice. It was an honor. Thanks for everything coach and good luck.
Milinkovic-Savic is just coming off of the 17 goal involvement campaign in Serie A play, which ranked among the best in the league. One could argue that this past season was the most complete of his career as a midfielder.
With Inzaghi now no longer with the club, it will be noteworthy to see how Lazio’s next manager will utilize the Serbian midfielder, especially when it comes to his responsibilities in Lazio’s attack.
