Lazio may have now found its top target to replace now-former Biancocelesti manager Simone Inzaghi. As noted by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare is in talks with Italian and former Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri to fill the club’s new managerial vacancy.

Tare met with Sarri today at the manager’s home to convince him to take on the role of becoming the new Biancocelesti manager. Tare is working to set up an ideal sporting project with Sarri, the report added.

Sarri last managed for Juventus over the 2019/2020 campaign, which was one that ended in disappointment. The Italian manager was subsequently sacked following Juventus’ UEFA Champions League Round of 16 elimination against Olympique Lyonnais.

Lazio has been linked with other managers over the past couple of days, including Spezia’s Vincenzo Italiano. The club reportedly views Italiano as a Plan B if Sarri turns down Lazio’s offer to become its newest manager.

It remains to be seen how this managerial saga will play out in the end.
