Italian journalist Valerio Cassetta provided an update regarding the talks between Lazio president Claudio Lotito and possible new coach Maurizio Sarri.
Speaking in an interview with Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via Cittaceleste) earlier today, Cassetta commented on Lotito’s hands-on approach to finding a new coach and the ongoing talks with Sarri.
Lotito has the will to take the coaching situation into his own hands. He wants to respond with an important figure to all that has happened.
There’s a desire to build a winning cycle. I believe that Sarri will reply by tomorrow, with respect to the possibility of sitting down to resolve all the preliminary questions.
The Biancocelesti president is incredibly keen to hire Sarri, marking the 62-year-old Italian as his top replacement for Simone Inzaghi, who departed from the Italian capital after five years in order to join reigning champions Inter.
Lazio’s list of alternatives to Sarri is slowly growing smaller, with Sinisa Mihajlovic’s future at Bologna now confirmed and Vincenzo Italiano having a decisive meeting with Spezia today.
The Roman club are hoping to confirm Sarri’s appointment soon in order to begin working on this summer’s transfer targets, with multiple areas of the squad needing reinforcements.
Sporting director Igli Tare is now working to find a variety of transfer targets for the club, but nothing major will occur until the coaching situation is resolved.
