Lazio Joins Chelsea and Real Madrid in the Early Interest of Villarreal Defender Pau Torres

Lazio is well expected to revamp its backline over the upcoming summer transfer window and could do so with one splash signing.

As noted by the Italian-based outlet Cittaceleste, Lazio is now being linked with Spanish and current Villarreal defender Pau Torres for a possible permanent transfer move.

Lazio is not expected to be the only club that will monitor Torres in the coming months. The likes of Chelsea along with Real Madrid each have also been in the rumor mill with Torres, but it is not yet known as to the extent of their interest in Spain’s rising defensive talent.

Torres gained more recognition in Europe after he helped lead Villarreal to Europa League triumph this past season. The Spanish defender totaled for nine appearances over the tournament run, which included the strong showing against Arsenal in the second leg of the semifinals.

Cittaceleste also notes that the 24-year-old currently has a transfer value of €25 million, although this may no longer be the case following his string of promising performances in Europa League play.

Torres has three more seasons remaining on his contract with the Yellow Submarine.
