Ex-Porto Coach Pereira Had a Meeting With Lazio Yesterday but Sarri Remains Priority

Former Shanghai SIPG and Porto coach Vitor Pereira met with Lazio last night with the Biancocelesti considering him a possible option to replace Simone Inzaghi.

As reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the 52-year-old Portuguese coach spent less than 24 hours in Rome, landing in the Italian capital and meeting the Biancocelesti for around three hours before departing.

He is on Lazio’s list of possible options to replace Simone Inzaghi, who left the club after five years to join Inter, although the Roman club’s top preference currently is Maurizio Sarri.

This week Lazio will make a decision regarding their new coach; either they will close out the deal for Sarri or look for a plan B. Pereira, who worked with Andre Villa-Boas at Porto, is among the names being considered.

Pereira is a coach who appreciates an attractive style of play, with his teams playing proactive football and lining up with a back three.

After his three years in China, the 52-year-old is keen to return to Europe and prove his worth.
