“I Would Like to Stay and Play for Lazio” – Andreas Pereira Discusses Future Ahead of Return to Manchester United

When Lazio brought in Manchester United FC midfielder Andreas Pereira, they were hoping that the 25-year-old would flourish away from the pressures of the Premier League. However, that never occurred.

Perhaps the Brazil international never convinced former manager Simone Inzaghi, but Pereira only made 33 appearances; 26 came in Serie A, where he only had three starts and averaged 21 minutes per game, scoring one goal and registering four assists.

Despite the less than stellar season at Lazio, Pereira would like to return. The midfielder conducted an interview relayed by Tuttomercatoweb where he spoke about his future and what league suits his style.

Premier League, Serie A, and La Liga? They are super leagues. The English one is very physical, and as you can see, I don’t have the ideal physique! Joking aside, I loved playing in England; Spanish football is more my style of play.

Future? I would like to stay and play for Lazio again, but this depends on the discussion with United and what they will want to do with me. I have a contract with the club; it’s like a second home for me. I have been there since I was 16; I always talk to the people who work for the club.

Any decision regarding Pereira will have to include the new manager, likely Maurizio Sarri, as they need to see whether the midfielder is a player that fits into their plans.

Nonetheless, it seems as though Lazio is interested in bring back Pereira on another loan, so it will be up to sporting director Igli Tare to discuss a potential deal with Manchester United.
