Lazio Defender Radu: “I Firmly Reject Allegations That I Discredited Muriqi”

Lazio defender Stefan Radu has refuted the accusations that he made disparaging comments about teammate Vedat Muriqi.

As seen on Lazio’s official website earlier today, the 34-year-old Romanian defender categorically denied the accusations made by Vincenzo Morabito in the TV programme Report last night, which suggested that he joked about the poor quality of Muriqi after the first training session.

Following the statements made by Mr. Vincenzo Morabito during the Report programme, broadcast last night on Rai 3, I would like to firmly reject the allegations that I have discredited the footballing value of my teammate Vedat Muriqi.

Such behaviour does not belong to me and the public dissemination of such allegations seriously harm my person. I have therefore informed you that I have instructed my lawyers to defend my professional image in all appropriate forms.

Last night’s programme suggested that both Radu and former coach Simone Inzaghi were instantly unimpressed with Muriqi and his qualities after only the first training session, where they reportedly made hurtful and negative comments about the Kosovan forward.

Biancocelesti sporting director Igli Tare was also caught in the crosshairs of Report, when he was accused of owning an Albanian betting company through a frontman; he has also categorically denied this.

Lazio are currently working hard trying to close out a deal for Italian coach Maurizio Sarri and will not appreciate these distractions at this key time.
