Lazio had pinpointed Maurizio Sarri as its top managerial target ever since Simone Inzaghi elected to part ways with the club. Now, Lazio officials are on the verge of finally signing Sarri to fill its managerial vacancy.
According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio and Sarri are expected to go over the final details of their multi-year contract deal on Wednesday.
Sarri is expected to finalize his contract agreement with Lazio, which will then be followed by the long-awaited official announcement.
Lazio was well expected to announce Sarri as its new manager on Tuesday. The Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi notes that Lazio president Claudio Lotito met with several club officials on Tuesday to further discuss the inevitable appointment of Sarri, which may indicate that both sides wanted to go over a few last-minute matters.
Nonetheless, Lazio is slated to release a statement on Wednesday confirming Sarri as the club’s successor to Inzaghi.
From there, Sarri will likely get in touch with the Lazio squad and then begin preparations for the upcoming summer transfer window.
