With only one year left on his deal, Lazio may be able to pick up Ilicic in a low-cost deal, with new coach Maurizio Sarri wanting a few reinforcements this summer to raise the level of the squad and provide more options for his tactical system, with the Slovenian fitting a 4-3-3 or 4-3-1-2 formation.

The 33-year-old Ilicic made 38 appearances across all competitions this season for Atalanta, for a total of 1889 minutes. In that time, he scored seven goals and provided 11 assists.
