Inter Coach Inzaghi on Lazio’s Immobile: “He Will Do Well, I’m Convinced of That”

Inter coach Simone Inzaghi was hopeful about Lazio striker Ciro Immobile’s chances at Euro 2020 this summer.

Speaking in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 45-year-old Italian coach commented on the 31-year-old Italian striker ahead of this evening’s opening game against Turkey.

I haven’t heard from him for a few days, but he will do well, I’m convinced of that.

This evening the 31-year-old Immobile will surely start in the Azzurri’s opening match against Turkey, which is also the opening match for Euro 2020 as a whole.

Since signing for the Biancocelesti in 2015, Immobile has scored 150 goals in 219 games. The year prior to that he made his Italy debut, and in his seven years wearing the Azzurri shirt, he has only managed to score 13 goals in 46 caps, disappointing for both the player and the fans.

This summer Immobile is hoping to shake off his poor Azzurri record and rewrite the narrative surrounding him.
