Now that Lazio has their manager in Maurizio Sarri, the Italian tactician has a list of names to pursue, including Chelsea FC midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

Recently a report surfaced that the 25-year-old is one of two Chelsea players that Sarri would like for the Rome-based club to pursue. The other would be goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.

According to Corriere dello Sport, the Italian club is working on a loan deal for Loftus-Cheek. The Italian media outlet states that the Chelsea outcast would have a €3.5-million salary should a loan occur.

The midfielder had some potential while with The Blues but has slowly seen himself fall out of favor. As a result, Loftus-Cheek went on loan to Fulham. However, with the club heading down to The Championship, Chelsea would need to find him a new home.

Sarri appears to think highly of the player, and with Loftus-Cheek not in Chelsea’s plans, it could be a deal that Lazio can secure.

Furthermore, there are various rumors surrounding midfielders, such as Luis Alberto and Sergej Milinković-Savić, regarding any possible interest from other European clubs. Lazio will not have any UEFA Champions League coming in this summer, so they might have to part with a player or two to fund any purchases.

Should either of those two players depart, the Italian club would need to find a replacement in the midfield. Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if Lazio does land Loftus-Cheek, whether Sarri can help him rediscover his past form.
