“This Victory Is Dedicated to Them” – Lazio’s Ciro Immobile on Playing in Front Supporters Following Italy’s Victory Over Turkey

Italy opened up their UEFA European Championship with an impressive 3-0 victory over Turkey, with Ciro Immobile having a major influence on the outcome.

Roberto Mancini’s squad welcomed back the public at the Stadio Olimpico and provided a performance that let everyone know that the Italians could be serious contenders.

Should Italy go on a deep run in this tournament, Lazio’s Immobile must play an essential part. The 31-year-old striker played 81 minutes in the win over Turkey. Immobile featured in two of the three Italy goals.

The Lazio marksman scored Italy’s second goal when he took advantage of a second chance opportunity. Then Immobile featured in the second goal when he found an unmarked Lorenzo Insigne, who made it 3-0.

After the match, Immobile spoke to the microphones of Sky Sport (via Lazio News), where he discussed the victory. The Lazio striker touched on not only scoring but finally playing in front of a crowd.

I must say it was a bit strange to feel this warmth and this affection that we have missed so much. This victory is dedicated to them, to those who suffered and those who could not buy a ticket.

When I scored, I first cheered for my wife, children, and family. Then I did a little sketch for Lino Banfi. Anyone who scored had to say “porca puttena”.

Turkey is a strong team; it is not easy to beat them and it was obvious today. We were so focused to give our best this match…

Italy will face Switzerland this Wednesday in the second round of fixtures. Meanwhile, Turkey takes on Wales to round up the action in Group A.
