Lazio Nears Five-Year Contract With Napoli Defender Elseid Hysaj

Lazio is on the verge of landing its first recruit with the potential signing of Napoli right-back Elseid Hysaj.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Lazio 24 News), the Rome-based club is in advanced talks with the 27-year-old.

The Italian media outlet reports that Hysaj has an offer from Lazio on the table. A potential agreement would see the defender reunite with his former manager Maurizio Sarri.

Both parties are in advance talks, and Lazio is ready to hand over a five-year contract with an annual salary of between €1.5 million and €2 million.

Nonetheless, Lazio supporters should take this news with a cautious approach. Mario Giuffredi, the agent for Hysaj, recently stated in a radio interview that they hadn’t held talks with Lazio.

We are looking at different solutions. I personally have not heard from Lazio yet; we continue to do our job by working on the solutions that are available. Then if Lazio come along, we’ll welcome them.

Whether this is a ploy to create a bidding war or actual honesty; nonetheless, Lazio could be close to landing a defender that would upgrade its backline.

It will be interesting to see the latest developments on this profile, whether there’s truth or all smoke. With a long history with Sarri, there’s no denying that the Biancocelesti have an interest. Furthermore, it’s a deal that Lazio should try to secure, with it being a free transfer.
