Lazio are considering making a move this summer for Schalke centre back Matija Nastasic, with RKC Waalwijk’s Ahmed Touba also a possibility.
As reported by Italian newspaper Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, new coach Maurizio Sarri has specifically requested a new centre back this summer, forcing sporting director Igli Tare to search for the perfect man.
One player Lazio have been often linked to lately is expiring Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic, but now Nastasic has been identified as a possible alternative.
The 28-year-old Serbian defender’s contract expires with Schalke at the end of next season and considering the German side’s relegation from the Bundesliga this season, they are forced to sell some players, including Nastasic.

Sarri is a fan of the 28-year-old Serb and would be able to effectively utilize his speed and strength, although he is not the only alternative being lined up by the Roman club.
Another option is Waalwijk’s Touba. The 23-year-old Algerian is contracted to the Dutch club until 2023 and was linked with Lazio earlier this season. Even if the Biancocelesti changed their mind on him once, they may decide to take a chance on him this summer.
