New Lazio manager Maurizio Sarri backs the club to sign SC Freiburg winger Vincenzo Grifo over the upcoming summer transfer window, as noted by the Italian-based outlet Il Messaggero (via Cittaceleste).
The report adds that Grifo is among the early list of wingers talents that Sarri wants the club to pursue in the coming months.
It is not yet known as to the extent that club officials will consider meeting Sarri’s demands for this Bundesliga talent.
Grifo has spent his entire professional career in Germany. The 28-year-old has totaled for a combined five seasons in Germany’s top-flight with Freiburg, 1899 Hoffenheim and Borussia Monchengladbach.
Last year, the long-time Bundesliga winger opened up how close he was to joining Lazio a decade ago, but it remains to be seen whether he would entertain such a transfer this time around.
Grifo is coming off of a season with Freiburg where he scored nine goals in all competitions with the side.
The Italian winger is expected to be among numerous forwards that will continue to be heavily linked with a possible move to Lazio, especially as the club begins to revamp the team under the former Juventus, Chelsea and Napoli boss.
