Lazio may soon be in a major transfer battle with Serie A rivals Napoli.
As noted by Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio sporting director Igli Tare and new manager Maurizio Sarri have held talks regarding plans for the upcoming summer transfer window.
Sarri is pushing Lazio to go out and sign a player that could help bolster the team’s play out on the left flanks.
For the moment, Lazio has signaled out Portuguese and Benfica left-back Nuno Tavares. Lazio is moving rather quickly with this potential signing as club officials are set to meet with Tavares’ agent on Tuesday.
Biancocelesti officials may want to secure this potential deal as soon as possible considering that Napoli is also keeping tabs on the winger, the report added.
Nonetheless, Benfica has set a €15 million transfer demand for any club aspiring to sign Tavares, although the Portuguese powerhouse is said to be leaning towards keeping the talent for next season.
Benfica is well renowned for providing first-team minutes to youth talents, and Tavares had his fair share of playing time opportunities last season, with 25 appearances in all competitions.
Tavares currently has three seasons remaining on his current deal with Benfica.
