Atalanta Set Their Sights on Free Agent & Lazio Target Stevan Jovetic

Atalanta have set their sights on free agent Stevan Jovetic amidst Lazio’s interest in the former Fiorentina man.

As reported by Italian newspaper Il Giorno (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, Gian Piero Gasperini’s side are considering acquiring the 31-year-old Montenegrin forward this summer on a free transfer, although only if the 33-year-old Josip Ilicic departs this transfer window.

Lazio are also keen on acquiring the former Monaco and Manchester City forward, who has left the Ligue 1 side after four years. Their main concern, however, is related to his physical condition. He tore his cruciate ligament in 2019 and finished this season with a calf injury.

The 31-year-old Jovetic made 33 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Coupe de France this season, for a total of 1015 minutes. In that time, he scored seven goals and provided one assist.

The Montenegrin has so far failed to replicate the successes he found in Florence with Fiorentina earlier in his career, although under Maurizio Sarri in Rome, he may yet prove his doubters wrong.
