Immobile also made history with the goal, as he became the first talent since Christian Vieri in the 2002 World Cup to score in Italy’s opening two matches of a major international tournament. The striker had already scored in Italy’s Euro 2020 opener against Turkey.
Immobile is now well among the early favorites to finish as the Euro 2020 top goal-scorer. This will surely depend on just how far Italy manages to go in this tournament.
The Lazio star will now be aiming to score his first-ever goal in the knockout stage of a major international tournament, which he is well capable of doing considering his recent superb form.
