Despite Lazio’s links with Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi, a transfer to Rome is not expected to occur this summer.
As revealed in The Laziali’s exclusive interview with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Roman club have been searching for wingers that will fit in new coach Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3 system, with the 27-year-old Juventus forward being one of the names on the list.
Sarri knows the player well from their recent season together in Turin and would be an option to play on the right flank.
However, even if Lazio are interested in Bernardeschi, a deal is not likely to take place in this summer’s transfer window.
The 27-year-old Italian currently earns around €4 million net per season and this salary would be too expensive for the Roman club, especially considering the need to sign multiple players over the next few months.
That salary would also make him one of the best-paid players in the squad, earning the same as star striker Ciro Immobile, which highlights how unlikely a possible deal would be.
The former Fiorentina man’s contract expires with the Bianconeri at the end of next season; talks are already underway regarding his future and it is possible that he will move on this summer.
