Lazio Pushing to Keep Stefan Radu as Inter Milan Remains Interested in Signing the Veteran Defender to a Free Transfer Deal

Lazio is now planning to go all in to keeping veteran defender Stefan Radu.

According to a report from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio has now submitted a new contract extension offer to Radu ahead of his impending free agency period.

Radu will be out of a contract on July 1, which will allow the Romanian defender to depart from the club as a free transfer.

Lazio has contemplated in recent months over whether to simply allow Radu to leave the club as a free agent, or pursue extension talks to extend his stay.

Biancocelesti officials have now opted for the latter, as the report added that Lazio president Claudio Lotito recently met with Radu to open up talks for a new deal.

Radu is also garnering interest from now-former Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi, who wants to bring the veteran Serie A defender to Inter Milan.

Radu may come to an official decision on this matter over the coming week.

Lazio well aspires to see its long-time defender stay put following the upcoming summer transfer window.
