Lazio wants to reinforce the midfield this summer, especially since they’re switching to a new formation under new manager Maurizio Sarri. Heading into a 4-3-3, the Biancocelesti need a defensive midfielder in their midfield, and it appears they have a solution.
According to Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio has made the first contact in recent days with the agent of Lucas Torreira. The 25-year-old is returning to Arsenal after a loan to Atlético Madrid.

The defensive midfielder has experience playing in Serie A, where his best years of European football have come. Torreira struggled to find his footing with Arsenal and Atlético Madrid, so perhaps a move back to Italy will help the Uruguayan find his form.
When it comes to a possible cost, Transfermarkt places the midfielder’s value at €20 million. Nonetheless, the English are open to a loan for Torreira. It will be interesting to see if these initial talks can result in a possible deal to secure Lazio’s defensive midfielder for next season.
