Second Source Confirms Lazio’s Interest in Dortmund’s Julian Brandt

Last season, Lazio finished around the middle of the pack in goals scored with 61 goals in Serie A. The Biancocelesti were close to 30 goals off first place Atalanta BC, who led the league with 90 goals.

Atalanta, AC Milan, Inter Milan, and Juventus were in the top five for goals scored last season in Serie A. As a result, if Lazio want to return to Europe’s top competition, they need to ramp up their scoring.

The Rome-based club appears to target a player who they hope finds their past form with a change of scenery. Earlier in the week, a report that Lazio have engaged in talks with Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt.

Now there’s another source confirming the interest. According to La Repubblica (via Lazio News 24), Lazio are indeed interested in the forward, but the potential asking price could be a thorn in negotiations.

When it comes to the cost, Brandt’s value is at €20 million per Transfermarkt. The price would be too much for Lazio unless they can offload Joaquin Correa to fund the purchase.

The 25-year-old arrived at Dortmund from Bayer 04 Leverkusen in 2019 but has yet to replicate the offensive capabilities Brandt showed with Leverkusen. In 87 appearances, Brandt has scored 11 goals for Dortmund while registering 15 assists.

Brandt has played at various positions throughout his career. However, most of his starts have come as a left-winger. Brandt’s preferred role falls into what Lazio are looking for this summer.
