There were many questions heading into Euro 2020 regarding the Italy national team.
One question was regarding their striker position and whether having either Lazio’s Ciro Immobile or Torino FC’s Andrea Belotti would be enough to not only get them past the group stage but compete with the heavyweight countries.
Immobile has answered the call through two fixtures, scoring two goals and having an assist to kick off his Euro tournament. Italy has clinched its ticked to the knockout stages of the competition following victories over Turkey and Switzerland.
Roberto Mancini has the Italian squad flying with confidence, and Immobile is one of the benefactors. Filippo Inzaghi spoke to La Gazzetta dello Sport (via Lazio News 24), where one of the conversations was the performance of Immobile at the Euros.
My brother Simone has been telling me that Ciro is strong for years, and at the European Championship, he is proving it by convincing even the skeptics. I am very happy for him; he is a serious guy who deserves these satisfactions.
Immobile will hope to continue this form as the competition gets tougher and the fixtures are even more important. Italy has surfaced as a potential contender for the Euros after some were skeptical of the squad.
