Lazio Following Fiorentina Defender Germán Pezzella

Lazio is switching to a 4-3-3 with new manager Maurizio Sarri implementing his system. As a result, the Italian tactician is looking for defenders that possess the qualities that can play in this system.

The Rome-based club recently extended the contract for Stefan Radu, but they’re also targeting other central defenders, and it appears as though they have one circled.

According to Italian football journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Lazio is reportedly following the profile of ACF Fiorentina defender Germán Pezzella.

The 29-year-old is entering the last year of his contract that expires next summer. Fiorentina could look to grab a transfer sum for their captain if both sides can’t reach a new deal.

Pezzella has made 137 appearances for Fiorentina scoring seven goals and registering five assists. Should Lazio pursue this profile, they’ll bring in a defender that wouldn’t need to adjust to the league.

When it comes to a potential cost, Transfermarkt places his transfer value at €7.5-million, which is a transfer price that Lazio could pay.
