AC Milan are currently in pole position in the race to sign Lazio-linked midfielder Mattia Zaccagni.
As reported by Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 26-year-old Italian midfielder has often been linked with the Biancocelesti in recent months, with the player having many admirers due to his strong performances with the Gialloblu in recent seasons.

His contract expires with Hellas Verona next year in 2022 and will not be renewed, meaning that it’s almost certain that he’ll be sold this summer.
Napoli were incredibly keen on him but the trail went cold, leaving AC Milan to swoop in and attempt to secure the Italian midfielder.

The Rossoneri are now ahead of the pack because of Zaccagni’s desire to play in the Champions League, making a move to Lazio more unlikely now.
The 26-year-old Zaccagni scored five goals and provided seven assists in 36 league appearances this season.
