Lazio Keen to Keep Strakosha but Must Resolve His Contract Renewal First

Lazio are planning to move ahead with Thomas Strakosha but need to resolve his contract situation.

As reported by Italian media outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi earlier today, the Biancocelesti have decided that both Strakosha and Spanish veteran Pepe Reina will be the club’s two goalkeepers next campaign, with the departure of previous coach Simone Inzaghi facilitating a return to the fold for the Albanian.

The issue is related to his contract, however. The 26-year-old Albanian’s contract expires with Lazio next year in 2022, and the club would want to extend his deal before the start of next season if he was to become a regular in the starting eleven again.

In recent weeks, Lazio have been linked with Cagliari’s Alessio Cragno and Atalanta’s Pierluigi Gollini, but neither club are willing to sell either player for a fee of less than €15 million.

The Biancocelesti were linked with Cragno last year and made initial contacts, but negotiations did not move forward and the player has not been approached in recent months.
