Lazio Interested in Hellas Verona Defender Lovato, Napoli & Atalanta Also Keen

Lazio are interested in Hellas Verona centre-back Matteo Lovato as a possible replacement for Denis Vavro.

As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, new coach Maurizio Sarri will evaluate the 25-year-old Vavro closely during this summer’s pre-season. Should the Slovakian not impress in Auronzo di Cadore, then alternatives will be pursued.

One of these alternatives is the 21-year-old Lovato, who is contracted to Hellas Verona until 2024. Lazio already pursued the Italian centre back in the January transfer window, but the Gialloblu’s €20 million price tag forced them to look elsewhere.

Lazio still appreciate Lovato and may look to make the investment this summer, although they will have to remain attentive as both Napoli and Atalanta are also keen on the Italian defender.

The 21-year-old Lovato made 24 Serie A appearances this season, for a total of 1380 minutes. In that time, he won 18 of his 27 tackles and made 27 blocks.
