Lazio is showing an early interest in signing Croatian and Bordeaux midfielder Toma Basic, as noted by the Italian-based outlet La Lazio Siamo Noi.
Lazio club officials are aiming to bolster its current midfield depth by adding a versatile midfielder.
While the Rome-based side is well interested in signing Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira, club officials are currently looking at other options in case that they fail to facilitate a deal for the Uruguayan.
For one, Basic is among Lazio’s top alternatives to Torreira.
The report adds that Bordeaux is open to offloading its prized midfielder over the upcoming summer transfer window.
The Ligue 1 side would consider offers for Basic that consist of either a €12 million transfer deal or an €8 million deal coupled with bonuses.
Basic has also garnered transfer interest from the likes of Portuguese powerhouse Benfica, especially as he is set to become a free agent next year.
The 24-year-old Croatian talent is coming off of a campaign where he totaled for 34 appearances in Ligue 1 play, which included starts against the likes of Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco.
Basic is expected to continue to garner transfer interest from clubs across the continent over the coming months.
