Cagliari’s Offer for Lazio Wing Back Fares Declined, Torino & Fiorentina Still Keen

Cagliari have submitted an offer for Lazio wing back Mohamed Fares amidst interest from Torino, Fiorentina and Hellas Verona.

As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, the 25-year-old Algerian wing-back is destined to leave the Italian capital this summer, with new coach Maurizio Sarri not impressed with the player after his debut season in Rome under Simone Inzaghi.

Cagliari are keen to acquire Fares and have made a concrete move for him, offering Lazio a loan deal with a €7 million buy option. The Roman club rejected the offer, wanting €8 million and an obligation to buy instead.

Torino, Hellas Verona and Fiorentina are all also interested in signing the 25-year-old Algerian, making the player’s departure from Rome this summer all but guaranteed.

Fares, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2025, made 21 Serie A appearances this season, for a total of 1138 minutes. In that time, he provided one assist.
