Lazio is in the market to improve their back as it transitions Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 to Maurizio Sarri’s 4-3-3. The Rome-based club wants to find defenders that better fit their new manager’s system and the style he wants.
As a result, their search to find these defenders has led Lazio to the South American market, where they’re on the verge of landing one of the top young talents of Ecuadorian football.

In an interview with El Desmarque (via Tuttomercatoweb), Club Atlético Talleres president Andrés Fassi confirmed they’re in advance discussions with an Italian club.
According to the report, it appears to be Lazio who’s close to landing Piero Hincapié. The 19-year-old plays in Argentina and is currently one of the better players for Ecuador in the Copa America.

Despite being in advance talks for Hincapié, Lazio does face plenty of competition for the teenage defender. Clubs such as AS Roma, Atalanta BC, Bayern Munich, Newcastle, Atletico Madrid, and Real Betis have all been on his tracks.
