Fenerbahce’s Belozoglu Is Close to Becoming Lazio Coach Sarri’s Assistant Manager

Former Fenerbahce midfielder Emre Belozoglu is ready to join coach Maurizio Sarri’s staff at Lazio.

As reported by the Turkish media (via LazioNews24) earlier today, rumours have been spreading across Turkey in recent days that the 40-year-old Belozoglu is being considered as a possible assistant coach to Sarri, and today’s reports suggest that an agreement has been practically reached between the parties.

Belozoglu, who spent four years as a player with Inter between 2001 to 2004, is currently Fenerbahce’s sporting director and was briefly their interim coach this season.

Developments are expected over the coming days, but the reports from Turkey are confident that a deal has almost been fully reached.

Belozoglu had a long and storied career as a player, making his breakthrough with Galatasaray before joining the Nerazzurri. Leaving Inter for Newcastle and then Fenerbahce, the midfielder bounced between the Istanbul side and other teams, like Atletico Madrid and Istanbul Basaksehir, for the rest of his career.
