Lazio has long aimed to haul in a versatile midfielder to reinforce its depth at the position, and the club may be on the verge of acquiring one player to fill such a need.
As noted by Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, Lazio club officials have reached an agreement with Bordeaux midfielder Toma Basic for a transfer deal. From there, Lazio now would need to come to financial terms with Bordeaux for the midfielder in order to finalize this signing.
The report adds that Lazio president Claudio Lotito is expected to increase his offer for Basic as he aims to soon complete this deal. Lazio currently does not have any notable transfer competition for the Croatian midfielder as Napoli reportedly is out of the running for this possible deal.
Lazio has reportedly been well focused on hauling in wingers and full-backs over the past weeks, as club officials look to rejuvenate the team for new manager Maurizio Sarri. Still, this potential signing would be key for the Biancocelesti as Sarri could do wonders with Basic considering the Croatian’s prowess as a ball-winning midfielder.
