Hysaj Expected to Sign 4-Year Contract With Lazio Today After Napoli Contract Expiration

Elseid Hysaj is expected to sign a four-year contract with Lazio during their scheduled meeting today.

As reported by Italian radio broadcaster Radiosei (via La Lazio Siamo Noi) earlier today, new Biancocelesti coach Maurizio Sarri specifically requested the 27-year-old Albanian, with the player being perfect in the left-back role in his 4-3-3 system.

Hysaj’s contract expired with Napoli at midnight yesterday, making him a free agent. Therefore, he is likely to sign a four-year deal with Lazio today, with a meeting scheduled between both parties.

Sarri and Hysaj have worked together at both Empoli and Napoli and now will continue their working relationship in Rome as well. An official announcement is expected over the coming days.

Lazio considered signing River Plate left-back Fabrizio Angileri as well, who could also be pursued if Manuel Lazzari or Adam Marusic are sold, moving Hysaj into the right-back slot to make space.
