Alessandro Matri will not be a part of Lazio‘s management next year.

After a season working under Sporting Director Igli Tare, he has decided to leave, as announced through a farewell post on Instagram, where he thanked the Biancocelesti for the wonderful opportunity; especially the Albanian 47-year-old.

The 36-year-old Italian, who retired in 2020, was reported to be determined to become a sporting director, having closely watched the work of Tare. This would have required him to take a course at Coverciano, which would have taken 144 hours to complete, where he would have had to analyze situations that a future sporting director would be forced to face in their career.

However, as reported by Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the former striker will now join DAZN. It is not yet known exactly what his role will be within the new majority holder of Serie A‘s television rights, but one thing is certain: a new adventure awaits Matri.
