Monaco’s Gabriel Pereira: “Thanks for Everything Lazio, an Honour to Wear This Shirt”

Brazilian goalkeeper Gabriel Pereira bid farewell to Lazio after returning to Monaco following the conclusion of his loan deal.

As seen in a post on Pereira’s Twitter page yesterday, the 19-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper arrived on loan from the Ligue 1 side in October of last year but did suffer a disappointing season in the Italian capital.

Pereira failed to provide strong competition 19-year-old Italian goalkeeper Alessio Furlanetto, who exploded onto the scene this season, and so only made nine appearances across all competitions this season in total – six in the Primavera 1 TIM and three in the Coppa Italia.

Across his nine appearances, the Brazilian teenager conceded 24 goals and failed to keep any clean sheets, struggling to manage a poor defense in front of him.

The 19-year-old is a product of Gremio’s youth system, joining Monaco in January 2020. His contract expires with the Ligue 1 side at the end of next season in 2022.

Pereira posted a photo of himself in the Lazio shirt, accompanied by the caption:

Thanks for everything Lazio, an honour to wear this shirt this season.
