Lazio Coach Sarri on Inter Linked Lazzari: “He Can Easily Adapt to a 4-3-3”

Lazio coach Maurizio Sarri thought that wing back Manuel Lazzari would be able to adapt to a 4-3-3 system, despite rumours linking him to Inter.

Speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sportitalia (via LazioNews24) last night, the 62-year-old Italian coach first touched on how the Biancocelesti squad will need to adapt from a 3-5-2 to a 4-3-3.

To switch from 3-5-2 to 4-3-3 you need to change a few players. Lazio don’t have any tall wingers in their squad, so they’ll have to do something.

However, I’m not a fundamentalist, because I’ve played many different systems. The only thing that is certain is that I will never play a three-man defense.

I don’t want to talk too much about Lazio.

He spoke highly of 27-year-old Biancocelesti wing back Manuel Lazzari. Reports suggest that the Nerazzurri are keen to sign the player as a replacement for Achraf Hakimi.

He’s a player with great legs and quality. He can easily adapt to a 4-3-3.

Sarri discussed his objectives with Lazio and what he’s hoping to get out of the club.

You have to go out on the pitch and prove yourself. A name and past successes are no guarantee of future success. My goal is to have a team that aims to work hard over the week and then have fun on Sunday.

When the environment finds this reaction it’s easier for me to win. When they say that by winning badly it’s easier to win, I honestly don’t understand it.

I don’t know how much longer I want to coach, right now I need a rewarding experience, I’m not talking about ranking and results, but on a professional level.

The 62-year-old Italian coach commented on the defense and working with young players.

I make requests that I don’t know about and that may be difficult to understand for someone who has always thought differently.

In fact, young players have always got on better with me. The only exception was Albiol.

He touched on his current relationship with Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito.

From what I’ve seen, he seems different to De Laurentiis.

Pre-season experiences are all nice and easy, when there are difficulties, you see people. I hope my feelings are right.

Finally, Sarri spoke about his staff and a former colleague of his Lorentino Beoni.

I saw Beoni the other day, he won’t be with me this year. I had to downsize the number of staff, for the moment he’s at home, he won’t be there for long considering his qualities.

He’s a coach who has had a career that is inferior to his ability.

Sarri is preparing to oversee this summer’s pre-season training retreat, which will begin on 10th July in Auronzo di Cadore.
