Rumours from Rome have suggested that Lazio are interested in signing Juventus defender Daniele Rugani.

As reported by Italian newspaper Tuttosport (via LazioNews24) earlier today, new coach Maurizio Sarri is keen to acquire the 26-year-old Italian defender, whom Sarri knows well from their time together at Empoli and Juventus.

Rugani will start the pre-season training camp with Juventus soon and much depends on the thoughts of coach Massimiliano Allegri, as well as any other offers that may arrive. The Bianconeri also want to understand the future of both Merih Demiral and Radu Dragusin.

The 26-year-old Rugani had a tough season last campaign, spending the first six months on loan with Ligue 1 side Stade Rennais, before returning in the January transfer window in order to join Cagliari on loan.

The Italian defender’s time in Ligue 1 last season was blighted by a hamstring injury, limiting him to only two appearances. He did feature 16 times for Cagliari earlier this year, however.
