Lazio Primavera defender Damiano Franco bid farewell to the Biancocelesti after 13 years.
As seen in a post on Franco’s Instagram page last night, the relegation of the Primavera team has brought about many changes, with the latest player leaving being the 19-year-old Franco.
The Italian teenager is leaving the club after 13 years, having joined at only 6 years old. He had developed a reputation as one of the most exciting players in the club’s youth system.
Franco posted a video and some photos of his time with Lazio, accompanied by the caption:
In football like in life, journeys have a beginning and often an end, although in my heart I hoped that this day would never come.
For 13 years Lazio has been my second home, the place where I could let off steam and shelter in difficult moments.
They were 13 years of victories and defeats, joy and pain, smiles and tears, which made me grow professionally but above all as a man.
I owe a lot of the person I am today to this shirt, which was able to shape me like no other shirt could.
For this I thank all the coaches and staff members, who have always been guides to follow and beacons in the dark times. A special thanks also goes to my teammates, who from the first moment made me feel like part of the ‘family’ and with whom I shared the most beautiful emotions of these years.
I want to thank the directors and all those who have believed in me from the beginning, always giving me the opportunity to express myself at my best.
And finally, I would also like to thank the fans who still write to me today, who have never failed to show their affection and support during victories and defeats.
I was a child when I arrived, now after 13 long and wonderful years I have decided to change my path and start a new one, and to begin a journey full of challenges and obstacles to face.
But one thing is certain: this shirt will always remain in my heart, along with all the emotions and memories that tie me inextricably to it.
Sempre Forza Lazio!
