Lazio Defender Vavro: “I’m Happy to Be Here With This New Coach”

Lazio defender Denis Vavro highlighted his happiness working with new coach Maurizio Sarri.

Speaking in an interview with Italian broadcaster Lazio Style Channel (via LazioNews24) earlier today, the 25-year-old Slovakian defender first spoke about his physical condition.

I am very tired, because today was a very hard training session. I like that we work a lot with the ball and that we do two sessions.

He commented on coach Maurizio Sarri.

I prefer a four-man defence and I like that, but I haven’t spoken to him yet.

The former FC Copenhagen man discussed the Euro 2020 final between Italy and England, which the Azzurri won after a penalty shootout.

I saw England as favourites, but I’m very happy for Immobile and Acerbi.

Finally, Vavro spoke about his future and what his plans are.

I prefer Spanish football, but I’m happy to be here with this new coach. We’ll see what happens.

The 25-year-old Vavro, who is contracted to the Biancocelesti until 2024, fell out of favour with previous coach Simone Inzaghi, leaving on loan to Spanish side Huesca this January after only making one Serie A appearance in the first few months of the season.

The Slovakian defender made 11 La Liga appearances last season, for a total of 616 minutes. In that time, he helped the side keep five clean sheets, but could not do enough to save them from relegation.
