Bordeaux Successfully Appeal Relegation, Lazio Still in Talks for Basic

French side Bordeaux will stay in Ligue 1 after successfully appealing their financial relegation, with Lazio still talks for midfielder Toma Basic.

As seen in an official statement released by Bordeaux, the French club was excluded from the top flight earlier this month due to financial issues, but have successfully appealed the decision, with the DNCG Appeals Commission overturning the decision.

Nothing will change regarding the ongoing negotiations between Lazio and Bordeaux for Croatian midfielder Toma Basic.

The Biancocelesti have already agreed to personal terms with the 24-year-old Croatian midfielder and now must find the right formula to close out the deal with the Ligue 1 side.

Contracted to Bordeaux until 2022, Basic made 34 Ligue 1 appearances last season, for a total of 2611 minutes. In that time, he scored four goals and provided one assist.

Lazio believe that Basic would be the perfect reinforcement for new coach Maurizio Sarri’s midfield, lining him up alongside Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Luis Alberto.
